2020
Our
16th
Season!

THE COMPETITION IS NOT COMPLETELY CANCELLED...JUST POSTPONED

Due to the CoVid-19 health concerns, our Semi-Final & Final have been postponed.
We are sorry for this inconvenience. We're especially sorry, & disappointed, that our contestants can't perform for their families & our fans. They were really looking forward to performing in front of a live audience.

After some initial contacts were made we decided to allow all our semi-finalists to submit an online video to replace the semi-final round that was supposed to be held at the Okanogan High School on March 14th. This allowed the competition to continue in hopes of having a LIVE final round when the situation improves.

After we received the semi-final videos, we shared them with our other judges via YouTube, Messenger, or our cells phones - whatever worked! We enjoyed seeing the creative ways some of you recorded your videos. There were some breathtaking views of the valleys where you live.

Thank you to all the contestants, & each parent, for your understanding, patience & flexibility during this difficult time. There were some very close scores, & a tie, so we decided to take thirteen contestants to the final. For those who aren't moving on, please keep on singing & performing. Music is what brings us all together. We may not be able to be together in one room right now, but get creative & keep sharing your talent with others. Our situation WILL improve. When it does, & when we get the go-ahead, we will reschedule the championship final. With that said, please go to our 2020 Finalist's page to view the championship final list. You will find that below. It is listed alphabetically by first name.

2020 SEMI-FINALISTS - scroll down the page to read all rules & to see the semi-finalist list!!!  Remember, as you go further into the competition, the judging becomes less lenient & tougher.  Contestants, PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES & FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.

Click on "Get Tickets" on the Semi-Final event notice. A new window will pop up where you can order your tickets.

  • Semi-finalists, remember you are required to stay for the whole show. Please sit together in the contestant section during the competition. Those who sing last are there for you who sing first, so singers who go first MUST stay until the end - have fun & cheer each other on.
  • You can start texting your semi-final song & finals song requests to Ed Lisenbey (509-322-0003) after 8:00 AM Monday morning  March 2 - NOT BEFORE. First come, first serve. Be thinking about your two Championship Final songs. You can give these to Ed at the same time, if you wish.  If you have any questions, or need help on song selections (what song is best to fit your voice, etc.), don't hesitate to call Ed. You are, now, trying to earn a spot in the final, so choose a song that fits your voice, within your range, & that you can sing well! (You don't do yourself justice, if you pick a song that you can't handle.)
  • IMPORTANT NOTICE!! Semi-final song genre: CLASSIC COUNTRY; must come from our approved songlist.
  • CONTESTANTS - PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR SONG PERFORMANCES AS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL ARTISTS AS POSSIBLE. WASHINGTON STATE NASHVILLE COUNTRY STAR LIKES THE SOUND AND STYLING OF THE TRADITIONAL CLASSIC COUNTRY (AND CLASSIC ROCK-N-ROLL SONGS).  A FEW PERSONAL TOUCHES IS ACCEPTABLE (her to him; she to he, Sue to Drew). DO NOT CHANGE THESE CLASSIC SONGS TO THE MODERN DAY VERSIONS  (for example the new version of Sound of Silence by Disturbed - You MUST sing the Simon & Garfunkel version) OR YOU WILL INCUR DEDUCTIONS. YOU CAN ONLY SELECT SONGS FROM OUR APPROVED LISTS - NO OTHERS
  • RECORDING YOUR OWN KARAOKE MUSIC: **Follow the same rules as in the "Finals" section below.
  • http://www.karaoke-version.com  is a good source for karaoke music. You can change the key two steps in either direction.  Ed can help you pick songs or help you with key/pitch  issues if you need help.
  • DRESS TO FIT YOUR SONG. There is a costume shop in Okanogan. If you give Leslie advanced notice, she can help you find something there, or make arrangements for someone to be in the shop. Not dressing appropriately could affect your score.
  •  TEXTING SEMI-FINAL/FINAL SONGS TO ED: Songs are on a first come first serve basis. As the texts come in, Ed will write your name & song down. It will take him awhile to text you back, especially if he is bombarded all at the same time. Make sure you include your name in your text so there is no confusion! The deadline for getting your song to Ed for the  Okanogan Semi-final is March 7th. (You may give Ed the titles of your Finals songs, too, but keep in mind that you might not move onto the final.)
  • FOR THE FINALS: You'll need two songs for the final round. You’ll need a classic pop or rock song AND a classic country song chosen from our song list on our website: www.wanashvillecountrystar.org – all songs listed may not have karaoke versions – so check them before texting in your song. You WILL NOT be allowed to sing your quarter final or semi-final song in the final round.  The song someone sings at the quarter or semi finals will be available to a different contestant for the final round.
  • All singers, (unless instructed otherwise), please arrive at 4:45 PM before the show - NO LATER, PLEASE!!!

We will have a meeting, & then you'll draw numbers for performance order for the Championship Final. If you have NOT called in your Final songs to Ed by the night of the Semi-Final, you may give them to Leslie at the meeting.

  • Check in your CD with Ed so he can preview it. **ALL CDs MUST  BE ON A CD-R or commercially purchased. When recording your music files make sure they are in the mp3 format. (I know this format works.) PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CD RECORDS CORRECTLY. PLAY IT IN A CD PLAYER OR IN YOUR COMPUTER TO VERIFY IT'S WORKING PROPERLY.  AND DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE OR DAY OF THE SEMI-FINAL TO GET YOUR CD READY. It puts a lot of stress on us, and is inconsiderate to expect us to fix it when there is not a lot of time. Label your CD with your full name, selection number (even if there is only one song on the CD) & the dead time (dead time is the time between pressing play and your music starting). Example: Jane Doe, #5, Before He Cheats :05). Try not to have more than three seconds of dead time at the beginning of your CD.
  • You MUST sit in the contestant seating area & you are REQUIRED to stay for the whole show. We believe this is very important so you can show support for each other.
  • EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!! Your combined time limit for your two finals songs cannot exceed 6.5 minutes. One second over will mean a deduction in your final placement.
  • If you need help with song selection, don’t hesitate to contact us.

** SEMI-FINAL tickets ($10) available at the door; $35 (Family of 4+ in immediate household) & on our Facebook event page through Eventbrite. Look for Washington State Nashville Country Star Semi-Final

** FINALS Tickets will be available at Rawson's Shoes & Clothing in Okanogan & Kelley's Imaging Services in Omak (March 15th) or on Facebook event page   Look for Washington State Nashville Country Star Semi-Final.

Thank you all who came out yesterday for the quarter final at Mission View Elementary. To say the least, that was one of the craziest rounds we've ever had. There were a lot of mishaps that we had to work around, but we made it through.

We commend all our contestants for being brave & getting up there to perform in front of complete strangers. Some contestants were very comfortable & for others, you could tell, were very nervous. We are sorry that some of you will not be moving on, & we congratulate the contestants who have been selected to move on to the semi-final.

We have a handful of contestants who have had prior commitments with their school sports programs or pre-arranged college visits. For these contestants, they have already performed for us, or will perform for us at a later date before the semi-final. We want to give each contestant the opportunity to be in the program, so this is a way to allow for that. Their names are included, or will be included, on this semi-finalist list if selected to move forward after their performance. Their videos will be reviewed along with last night's videos.
